Hospital Play Specialist

Women & Children’s Health - Galaxy Ward

Senior Play Specialist Grade  £19,398 - £22,904 p.a. inc.

Job Ref; HS/631/KF

It is our aim to provide the very best possible service to children visiting UCLH now and in our new hospital, due to open in 2005.  To achieve this aim, we are seeking an experienced, qualified hospital play specialist to run the inpatient play programme on Galaxy Ward.

Galaxy ward is a 17 bedded acute admissions unit catering for a wide variety of conditions for children and adolescents from birth to 17years. Experience of working with children from diverse backgrounds would be an advantage for this inner London setting.

Can you engage easily with children, build good working relationships with a large number of health professionals, reassure highly anxious parents and prioritise your own work load?                  Are you at home in the playroom?  Do you have excellent observation and communication skills?  With 50% of admissions under one year old and some challenging older children and teenagers, you will need to be adaptable in your approach and keen to work with all ages.

Supportive management, weekly work discussion groups and excellent training opportunities sustain each hospital play specialist’s own professional development in our highly motivated, high profile and committed play team.

Interested?  Please contact us for an informal visit; Polly Smith, Sister Galaxy 020 7380 9706 or Judy Walker UCLH Play Services Co-ordinator on 0207 636 8333 ex 3908
