Qualified Hospital Play Specialist

£17,715  to  £19,821 p.a inc

37.5 hours per week

 

We are looking for a Hospital Play Specialist with initiative, enthusiasm and committed to play in hospital.

 

A unique opportunity has arisen within the Retinoblastoma service, which is at present based at

 St Bartholomew’s Hospital and will move to the Royal London Hospital site early next year as apart of the centralisation of children’s service.

 

The Play specialist will provide play opportunities to the children mainly aged 0-5 years, during their day case and inpatient admissions, at their appointments within Outpatients and Radiotherapy Departments.

 

You will need to be an excellent communicator and able to work within a large multi disciplinary team. You will organise your time to meet the play needs of the children of the Retinoblastoma service, to be adaptable and sensitive to the emotional needs of the children and their families through this stressful time. You will need good knowledge of preparation and distraction.

 

You will possess a Hospital Play Specialist Certificate (HPSET), Oncology experience would be an advantage.

 

You will join a team of fourteen play specialists managed by a Principal Play Specialist with a variety of opportunities to update your Professional Portfolio and participate within the in-service training programme.
