Training

Edexcel Level 4

BTEC Professional Diploma in Specialised Play for Sick Children and Young People

This level 4 qualification is intended for those who already hold a professional childcare qualification and either wish to work, or already work within the NHS and would like to become qualified Hospital Play Specialists. Learners must have at least 3 years experience of working with children and be aged 20 or over upon commencement of the programme.

There are six units of study and typically learners will be asked to produce a portfolio of work, a project and undertake various other shorter assignments. A large part of the programme will be based on the vocational practice that learners undertake in the work setting.

This qualification is recognised as the requirement for application for professional registration with the Hospital Play Staff Education Trust (HPSET). Both the qualification and professional registration together form the recognised National Health Service (NHS) qualification and standard for hospital play staff.

NB Our Information Officer does not hold any additional information about training, for this please contact HPSET
